    Role Overview

We are seeking a Foley Artist to create and record custom sound effects that enhance storytelling across film, podcast, and digital media projects.

This role focuses on recreating everyday sounds—footsteps, movement, environmental textures—to bring realism, depth, and emotional presence to our content.

    • Sync Foley sounds with video or audio timelines
    • Work closely with editors and audio engineers to integrate sound seamlessly
    • Ensure timing, realism, and consistency across projects

    Creative Sound Design

    • Contribute to the overall soundscape of projects
    • Enhance storytelling through subtle and intentional audio detail
    • Experiment with materials and techniques to achieve desired effects

    Collaboration & Production Support

    • Work with filmmakers, editors, and producers on project needs
    • Support post-production workflows with sound elements
    • Align sound design with narrative tone and emotional impact

    Quality & Organization

    • Maintain organized audio files and sound libraries
    • Ensure high standards for sound clarity and usability
    • Support development of Foley processes and systems

    Communication & Responsiveness

    • Maintain timely, professional communication via Google Workspace
    • Coordinate across creative and production teams

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Experience in audio recording, sound design, or Foley work (formal or self-taught)
    • Strong attention to detail and sound accuracy
    • Creativity in producing realistic sound effects
    • Basic understanding of audio recording tools and environments
    • Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values

    Preferred

    • Experience working with film, video, or podcast production
    • Familiarity with audio editing tools (Pro Tools, Audition, Logic, etc.)
    • Experience syncing audio to visual content
    • Interest in storytelling through sound

    Commitment

    • Volunteer role
    • Approximately 5–10 hours per week
    • Minimum 6-month commitment required
    • Remote / hybrid

    What You’ll Gain

    • Experience in real-world sound design and production
    • Opportunity to contribute to immersive storytelling
    • Portfolio development with mission-driven media
    • Collaboration with filmmakers and audio teams
    • Professional references and letters of recommendation

    How to Apply

Interested candidates must apply directly through Idealist and submit:

    • Resume (required)
    • Audio samples or portfolio (preferred)
    • Brief statement of interest describing experience with sound design

This role gives texture to the story.

Turning silence into movement, and movement into something felt.

This role holds the pieces together.

From research to outreach to execution—help ensure every story is fully built before it’s told.
