Restock a Little Free Library in Eastpointe, Michigan
Details
Description
We need your help to keep great books accessible to communities 24/7. As a volunteer, you will visit this Little Free Library in front of the Michigan Military Technical and Historical Society in Eastpointe to restock it with books once a week. This book-sharing box needs relevant, high-quality books for a wide grange of readers, especially current children’s and middle-grade books, graphic novels, young adult books, popular fiction, and diverse and inclusive titles.
We're looking for a volunteer who can commit to distributing books to this Little Free Library for 6 months. We can suggest free or low-cost sources of books - or, if you're a bookworm yourself, you can distribute your own. Approximately 11 books are needed each week, so anything that you can contribute to the library will help. Volunteers will also select books from the museum's supply to help restock the book-sharing box.
Purpose: By keeping Little Free Libraries filled with books, you are helping to build community, inspire readers, and expand book access.
Responsibilities:
- Visit the museum during its open hours (Fridays 12-3 pm, Saturdays 10-5 pm, and Sundays 12-4 pm) to choose books from their collection for restocking the Little Free Library.
- Collect relevant, high-interest books, especially middle grade graphic novels and books featuring diverse characters. These books will supplement the books from the museum's collection to keep the library stocked.
- Travel to the Little Free Library to restock it with books once a week for 6 months.
- Use the Little Free Library app to check-in and track how many books you shared.
- Submit an Impact form in our volunteer hub at the end of the 6 month commitment.
Resources Available: We will help you get started with some tips for book sources and using our Little Free Library app.
Qualifications:
- Love Little Free Libraries and supporting book access!
- Willing to collect or donate books for 6 months
- Have access to transportation to take books to the Little Free Library
- Great at communicating by email or phone
Benefits: Experience the satisfaction of getting books into the hands of more readers. You’ll get a free Little Free Library t-shirt after you record your impact in the Team LFL online hub!
