    Description

Board of Directors – World Disaster Center (WDC)

    About WDC

The World Disaster Center (WDC) is an emerging global initiative focused on transforming disaster preparedness, response, and resilience systems. Our mission is to strengthen coordination between governments, humanitarian actors, and the private sector to reduce the impact of disasters worldwide and improve recovery outcomes for affected communities.

WDC is currently in a strategic development phase, building the institutional foundation, partnerships, and governance structures required for long-term scale and global credibility. Our trajectory is aligned with internationally recognized humanitarian frameworks, with the long-term ambition of operating at the level of a globally coordinated institution within the wider UN ecosystem.

    Role: Board of Directors

We are seeking experienced, senior-level professionals to join the WDC Board of Directors. Board members will play a critical role in shaping strategy, expanding global partnerships, and strengthening institutional positioning.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide strategic oversight and guidance on WDC’s global direction and institutional growth
    • Support the development of high-level partnerships with governments, multilateral organizations, NGOs, and private sector actors
    • Leverage networks to support strategic agreements, collaborations, and institutional opportunities
    • Advise on governance, credibility, and long-term sustainability of the organization
    • Support visibility and positioning of WDC in global humanitarian and resilience ecosystems

    Ideal Profile

    We are seeking individuals with:

    • Senior leadership experience (public sector, international organizations, private sector, or philanthropy)
    • Strong global or regional networks relevant to humanitarian, climate, development, or resilience sectors
    • Experience in partnerships, institutional strategy, fundraising, or large-scale program development
    • Ability to contribute time at a strategic advisory and governance level

    Strategic Context

WDC is building toward long-term institutional alignment with global humanitarian coordination frameworks and UN-related ecosystems. Board members will be part of shaping an organization designed for scale, credibility, and international impact.

We are also developing a broader ecosystem of initiatives, including financial and development platforms such as the Infinite Future Bank (IFB), where aligned board members may contribute advisory support or partnership facilitation.

    Value of Participation

    Board members will:

    • Contribute to a high-impact global humanitarian initiative at an early institutional stage
    • Help shape a system-level organization addressing disaster resilience and response
    • Engage in high-level strategic partnerships and global stakeholder networks
    • Participate in shaping long-term funding and sustainability pathways, including donor engagement and strategic fundraising initiatives
