    Description

    Birdscape Botanist (native vegetation monitor)

Ever wonder what trees and shrubs are growing right in your own backyard and neighborhood? Or how tall that towering oak really is? Come join Observatory staff for a hands-on adventure in the field during our Birdscape Botanist Sessions!

    • Learn to identify the woody plants that make up our local landscapes—once you know their names, you’ll start seeing them everywhere.
    • Remember learning the Pythagorean theorem back in middle school? Now you’ll actually get to use it—to figure out how tall a tree really is!”
    • Work side by side with fellow plant and bird enthusiasts.
    • Explore different greenspaces in Port.

If you’ve ever wanted to see your neighborhood with fresh eyes, this is your chance. Once you learn the plants and their stories, every walk outdoors feels like an adventure. No training needed!
