    Description

    We are looking for individuals who embody:

    • Empathy and Compassion - You''ll be interacting with patients and families during vulnerable moments, offering kindness and a calm presence.
    • Reliability & Commitment Volunteers are expected to dedicate at least four hours per week and commit to regular shifts.
    • Effective Communication Solid English communication skills are essential; bilingual abilities are highly valued.
    • Professionalism & Discretion You''ll be entrusted with sensitive settings and must maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
    • Team-Oriented Attitude You''ll collaborate closely with both staff and fellow volunteers in a fast-paced medical setting.

    Volunteer Activities (sample tasks)

    As a volunteer, your contributions might include:

    • Patient support: escorting patients, offering companionship, pickup trays from dietary, bring patients reading materials, etc.
    • Support for clinical staff: restocking supplies, under the approval of Registered Nurses: bring food, water, and blankets to patients, call housekeeping to empty trash/linen and when room is ready to be cleaned, etc.

    Your role helps free medical staff to focus on direct care, while you provide compassionate support that enhances patient experience.

    Requirements to Apply

    To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Plan to commit to all program requirements (i.e., Commit at least one 4 hour shift per week)
    • Be able to communicate effectively in English (second language skills are a plus)
    • Participate in an interview
    • Successfully complete background investigation *SSN required
    • Drug screening is required in some states for hospice volunteers
    • Successfully complete health screening
    • Successfully complete volunteer orientation and training
