Description
Turn compassion into action. Stand with our Haitian neighbors when they need it most.
As many newcomer families—particularly Haitian families in Massachusetts—face the possible loss of work authorization and increasing financial uncertainty, we are seeking compassionate individuals to form small support teams that walk alongside families with practical help, friendship, and encouragement.
Form a Small Support Team (an NST - Neighborhood Support Team)
- Gather a team of 3–4 friends, neighbors, coworkers, or members of your faith community to support one individual or family together.
Receive Training & Build Readiness
- Complete a brief online WelcomeNST preparedness training.
- Meet with a WelcomeNST Specialist to learn how to provide effective, culturally responsive support.
- Participate in advocacy opportunities, including community events and contacting elected officials.
Support Access to Legal Resources
- Help connect families with trusted legal services through our partnerships in your area.
Provide Practical & Relational Support
- Assist with food, medication, and transportation as families experience financial hardship.
- Accompany individuals to medical appointments, immigration hearings, and other important appointments when appropriate.
- Build genuine friendships that reduce isolation by sharing meals, attending community or faith events together, and helping families feel welcomed, connected, and supported.
