    Description

    NNV Wildfire Preparedness Team Member

Wildfires are a part of our life & community. Joining the Red Cross Wildfire Preparedness Team will allow you to help your community become prepared for Wildfires in our area.

Together with local partners, we are working to help reduce deaths, injuries, and property from wildfire in at-risk communities. With your participation, we can make a difference in our communities, save lives, and prevent human suffering. The Wildfire Preparedness Visits aim to save lives by preparing residents for wildfires through evacuation planning, on-site education about steps to reduce wildfire risk, assistance with registering for local emergency alert notifications, and connection with local mitigation partners, where available. The purpose of this position is to implement Wildfire Preparedness Visit programming. Depending on the local situation, work may be done virtually or in-person. Depending on local preferences, this program may be combined with Home Fire Campaign service delivery.

This position is responsible for the tasks involved to implement the preparedness program including:

    • Support the annual preparedness goals, Regional Disaster Officer (RDO) objectives, and regional/chapter plan for preparedness programming through participation in meetings, projects, and local preparedness activities.
    • Execute assigned projects and local preparedness activities according to the Wildfire Preparedness Visit activities (canvassing, wildfire prevention and safety education, wildfire evacuation planning, local emergency alert registration support, documentation of service delivery, etc.) you are trained to do.
    • Complete tasks such as meeting training requirements, implementing preparedness activities, meeting with partners to build relationships, conducting inventory, and procuring or receiving necessary preparedness supplies.

    Minimum age is 18
