DESCRIPTION — Responsibilities, Qualifications, and Other Details

Imagine a restaurant where everyone is welcome, regardless of their ability to pay. A place where neighbors can enjoy a thoughtfully prepared meal, experience genuine hospitality, and feel that they belong.

That's the future we're working toward.

The Gracefull Table Community Kitchen is a Garland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit currently providing free, restaurant-style community meals. Our long-term vision is to establish a permanent pay-what-you-can restaurant that serves as a welcoming gathering place for the community.

We're seeking a knowledgeable volunteer to help us research and plan the practical steps needed to make that vision a reality.

    Responsibilities:

    • Research potential restaurant locations in Garland and surrounding communities.
    • Identify suitable commercial properties and potential facility partnerships.
    • Assist with preliminary startup and operating cost estimates.
    • Research commercial kitchen equipment and facility requirements.
    • Investigate zoning, permitting, and licensing considerations.
    • Help evaluate restaurant layout and operational needs.
    • Assist with early-stage feasibility studies.
    • Research successful pay-what-you-can restaurant models.
    • Prepare findings and recommendations for organizational leadership.

    Qualifications:

Experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

    • Restaurant ownership or management.
    • Commercial real estate.
    • Hospitality operations.
    • Restaurant consulting.
    • Business development or financial planning.
    • Commercial kitchen design or development.

Strong research, communication, and analytical skills are valuable.

Retired restaurant professionals and industry consultants are encouraged to apply.

    Other Details:

This is an unpaid, skills-based volunteer opportunity. The role is primarily research and planning focused. It does not require making financial commitments or negotiating contracts on behalf of the organization.
