    Available Volunteer Positions

    COHC Receptionist

Help patients feel welcomed and supported as soon as they arrive.

    Responsibilities:

    • Greet and register patients
    • Prepare, organize, and file medical records
    • Assist with clinic flow throughout the evening
    • Schedule future appointments
    • Complete minimal computer entry (basic computer skills required)

    Why this role matters:

Receptionists shape the tone of each visit. Your kindness, organization, and professionalism help patients feel comfortable and cared for during what may be a stressful time.

    COHC Screener

Guide patients through questions related to eligibility, insurance, and community resources.

    Responsibilities:

    • Screen patients for insurance and financial eligibility
    • Assist with referrals to community agencies and medical follow-up
    • Complete minimal computer entry (basic computer skills required)

    What screeners help with:

    Patients often ask:

    • “Am I eligible for the clinic?”
    • “How do I apply for Medicare?”
    • “What local food pantries can I access?”

Screeners help connect patients to the right answers and supports. This role is ideal for those interested in social work, resource navigation, or simply helping people find solutions.

    Volunteer Commitment

We appreciate volunteers of all availability levels — weekly, monthly, or occasionally.

However, volunteers must commit to the full 4:30–9:00 p.m. shift on the nights they serve to ensure continuity of care and smooth clinic operations.
