    Description

Serve Those Who Served: Be a Presence of Comfort and Care

Bring comfort. Share kindness. Make a difference for our nation’s heroes.

Every hero deserves to feel seen, supported, and cared for — especially when they’re facing medical treatment, recovery, or long hospital days far from home. As a Military Treatment Facility Clinic Volunteer with the American Red Cross, you can be that source of strength and humanity.

You won’t just be helping in a clinic — you’ll be easing anxiety, lifting spirits, and showing appreciation in the most personal and compassionate way possible.

Your Role: A Touch of Hope in a Clinical Setting

This unique volunteer opportunity supports the Service to the Armed Forces mission, working alongside medical staff in military hospitals and clinics. You’ll help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere while supporting critical behind-the-scenes tasks that keep things running smoothly.

    Your duties may include:

    • Greet and assist patients and visitors
    • Providing comfort items and bedside support
    • Helping with administrative tasks like answering phones, data entry, or filing
    • Assisting in clinical areas with tasks like charting, prepping rooms, or transporting items
    • Delivering welcome packets to wounded warriors and showing them, they are never forgotten
    • Offering a friendly face and a listening ear to those who’ve sacrificed so much

    Time Commitment & Training

    • Volunteer for at least 6 months
    • Flexible shifts available based on clinic needs
    • Full training provided, including:

    o American Red Cross orientation

    o HIPAA & privacy training

    o Military clinic procedures & in-service education

Note: Additional security clearance may be required based on the facility.

What You Bring to the Role

    • A respectful and calm presence — especially in high-stress situations
    • A deep appreciation for military members and their families
    • Strong communication and listening skills
    • Basic administrative or clinical support skills (training provided)
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and navigate a medical setting
    • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism

    Why This Work Matters

In every smile you share, every form you file, every comfort item you hand out — you remind our service members they are valued. You represent a grateful nation. And you help ensure that no one walks through recovery alone.

Are You Ready to Serve Those Who Serve Us?

Join the American Red Cross and become a beacon of care for those who’ve given so much. Because sometimes, healing begins with a handshake, a warm welcome, or just knowing someone cares.
