Grandmothers' Village Project, Inc. is seeking a passionate and mission-driven Volunteer Grant Writer & Development Specialist to help secure funding that will support our Indigenous-led nonprofit serving marginalized elders through eco-sustainable housing, regenerative land stewardship, and community-based programs.
Working closely with the Founder/President & CEO, this volunteer will assist in identifying funding opportunities, researching prospective funders, preparing grant proposals, and strengthening our long-term fundraising capacity.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys writing, research, nonprofit development, and wants to help expand the impact of an Indigenous-led nonprofit dedicated to helping marginalized elders age with dignity through eco-sustainable communities and regenerative programs.
Responsibilities
- Research foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities.
- Review grant guidelines and assess funding alignment.
- Collaborate with the Founder to prepare compelling grant proposals.
- Adapt and update existing proposal language for new applications.
- Help prepare supporting documents and attachments.
- Assist with grant calendars, deadlines, and submission tracking.
- Support grant reporting and follow-up as needed.
- Contribute ideas that strengthen Grandmothers' Village's long-term development strategy.
Qualifications
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills.
- Experience with grant writing, fundraising, nonprofit development, or related fields preferred.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating with leadership.
- Passion for community development, environmental sustainability, Indigenous-led initiatives, housing, or services for marginalized elders.
