    BIBLE STUDY VOLUNTEER NEEDED – 1:1 VISITS

    This is a chance to serve in a deeply personal way:

    • Sit bedside with a veteran patient

    • Read scripture or a short devotion

    • Offer prayer and encouragement

    • Bring peace, comfort, and presence

    WHAT TO EXPECT: VOLUNTEER APPLICATION PROCESS

    We’re here to guide you every step of the way. Getting started is simple, and we’ll support you throughout the entire process.

    Let’s Connect

    Start by chatting with our Volunteer Coordinator. We’ll answer your questions, learn about your interests, and make sure this is a good fit for you.

    Application & Background Check

    Complete a volunteer application. This includes providing your Social Security Number for a Kansas state adult abuse background check.

    You’ll also provide:

    • A copy of your driver’s license

    • Proof of auto insurance (with your name listed on the policy)

    Health & Safety Requirements

    To ensure the safety of our patients, volunteers complete:

    • Drug test

    • 2-step TB test

    Onboarding & Training

    You’ll go through onboarding and receive training to prepare you for hospice volunteering. We also offer ongoing training and weekly volunteer meetings for continued support.

    Shadowing & Support

    Before visiting independently, you’ll have the opportunity to shadow experienced volunteers until you feel comfortable and confident.

    You’ll also have support from:

    • Volunteer Coordinator

    • Volunteer team

    • Seasoned hospice IDG team (nurses, social workers, chaplains)

    Start Visiting Patients

    Most of your time will be spent in the community—visiting patients in their homes or care facilities.

    A typical time commitment is:

    • About 1 hour per week per patient

    You’ll choose the patients and areas that work best for you.

    You don’t have to have everything figured out—we’ll walk with you every step of the way.
