    Description

    Volunteering with Monarch Hospice

Bring comfort, connection, and compassion to patients and families. At Monarch, our volunteers provide comfort and companionship to patients and their loved ones, ensuring that no one journeys through end-of-life alone.

For those looking to volunteer in an administrative/office role, you will provide essential support to our team who work within the community.

Whether you have a couple of hours a week or more time to give, your presence can make a lasting difference.

    Who We Are

At Monarch Hospice and Palliative Care, we believe in embracing life and honoring every individual’s unique journey. Our Team is dedicated to offering compassionate, personalized care for those facing life-limiting illnesses. We focus on providing comfort, dignity, and support to patients and their families during one of the most challenging times in life. As a nurse-owned and locally operated organization, we understand the importance of tailoring care to meet the unique needs of our community.

Emotional Support for Patients and Families

    • Listening and companionship: Volunteers provide a comforting presence, listen to patients’ stories, and offer companionship, helping them feel less isolated.
    • Family support: Volunteers also offer support to family members, helping them cope with the emotional strain of caring for a loved one who is nearing the end of their life.

    Respite Care

    • Volunteers can give primary caregivers a break, which is crucial for their physical and emotional well-being. This allows caregivers to rest, recharge, or take care of personal matters, while the volunteer remains with the patient.

    Administrative and Clerical Support

    • Volunteers may also assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phones, making reminder calls, and helping with paperwork. This can help hospice agencies function more efficiently and focus on patient care.

    Training and Requirements

    • Hospice volunteers typically receive specialized training to help them understand the needs of patients and families. The training often covers topics like grief, pain management, and ethical issues.
    • Volunteers may need to undergo background checks, health screenings, and orientation programs.

    Benefits of Volunteering

    • Personal fulfillment: Volunteers often find that offering care and compassion in such an intimate setting is deeply rewarding.
    • Skills development: Volunteers can gain experience in healthcare, grief counseling, and hospice care that may be valuable for their personal or professional lives.
    • Community impact: Hospice volunteers help strengthen community bonds by providing essential services and enhancing the quality of life for patients.

Hospice volunteers are essential in helping patients and families navigate the challenges of end-of-life care, offering kindness, respect, and a supportive presence during a sensitive time.
