    Description

About the Role The FACTS Initiative is seeking a visionary, collaborative leader to serve as the President of our Board of Directors.

Please note: While we operate with a working board due to our organization’s size, this is strictly an advisory and governance role, not an operational staff position. You will not be expected to execute daily organizational tasks. Instead, you will offer high-level guidance, review policies, and provide strategic recommendations to ensure professional oversight and informed decision-making.

As the Board President, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to the entire Board of Directors, ensuring our mission and goals are effectively met. This is our most critical volunteer leadership position, responsible for fostering a collaborative board culture, overseeing governance responsibilities, and ensuring alignment between organizational strategy and our Executive Team's operations.

What You Will Do (Governance & Leadership)

    • Board Leadership & Meetings: Plan and preside over quarterly board meetings, develop agendas in collaboration with the Executive Team, and ensure all board members have the information needed to make informed decisions.
    • Executive Support & Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison between the board and the Executive Team. Provide high-level guidance, support, and supervision to executive leadership while facilitating clear communication.
    • Strategic Governance: Lead the board in setting the organization’s strategic direction, monitoring progress toward goals, and fulfilling all governance responsibilities (including policy development and oversight).
    • Board Development & Committee Oversight: Lead efforts to recruit, onboard, and develop new board members. Conduct regular assessments of board performance, and provide support to committee chairs to ensure their initiatives align with organizational priorities.
    • Community Advocacy & Public Relations: Serve as a primary spokesperson for The FACTS Initiative. Represent the organization at community events and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community leaders.

    Who We Are Looking For

    • Experienced leaders with proven business administration, organizational, and management skills.
    • Collaborative consensus-builders with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse groups.
    • Strategic thinkers with a strong understanding of nonprofit governance and board development.
    • Individuals with a high degree of personal integrity, credibility, and a deep passion for improving the lives of the vulnerable children and families we serve.

    Time Commitment

    • Approximately 2 hours per week.
    • Attendance and active leadership at quarterly board meetings.
    • Regular check-ins with the Executive Team, committee chairs, and external stakeholders as needed.

Why Join Us? The Board President plays the most critical role in guiding the strategic vision of The FACTS Initiative. By fostering strong governance and representing the organization within the community, your leadership will directly support our long-term success and ensure we continue providing essential, trauma-informed care to those who need it most.
