    Description

Do you speak Cantonese ?! Become a Friendly Visitor to an Isolated Older Adult in East Elmhurst!

Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships. Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests, learn/teach new skills, read books, learn technology, and celebrate special holidays.

We're currently in need of Cantonese or Mandarin speaking volunteers to provide social engagement to Cantonese or Mandarin speaking older adults in our community.

The program also aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities. Friendly visitors must be 18 and over, be open to committing to 6 months of volunteerism, provide non-familial references and a background check is required to participate in the program. Volunteers can either call or do in-person visits the older adult upon approval.
