Description
Content Writer Volunteer (Remote)

Take Trips MES is seeking a passionate, creative, and collaborative Content Writer Volunteer to help develop
and publish meaningful written works that educate, inspire, and advocate for the incarcerated
and formerly incarcerated population. This role is ideal for individuals with strong writing abilities,
storytelling experience, and an interest in creating impactful content while gaining hands-on
publishing experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the lead author to develop, organize, and enhance written content
- Assist in writing, editing, proofreading, and refining manuscripts
- Strengthen story structure, pacing, clarity, and overall reader engagement
- Research and write content focused on the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated population with accuracy and sensitivity
- Contribute creative ideas that improve storytelling and overall book quality
- Coordinate revisions and maintain version control throughout the writing process
- Communicate consistently with the author to meet project deadlines and publishing goals
Qualifications:
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to enhance and organize stories for clarity, engagement, and impact
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about issues affecting the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated population
- Experience with or familiarity with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) or other self-publishing platforms
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a remote environment
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Previous experience as a co-author, ghostwriter, editor, or content writer
- Background in journalism, creative writing, nonprofit advocacy, or social justice
- Strong research and interviewing skills
- Ability to provide constructive feedback while maintaining a collaborative approach
- Passion for using writing to educate, inspire, and create social impact
