City of Irvine Nutrition Program are looking for a volunteer to assist with registration & cashiering for the Lunch Program for Older Adults, see details below:
Job Assignment: Cashier – Registration
Duties
- Greet participants dining in the café
- Serve as cashier
- Set up registration table, including:
- Sign-in sheet
- Laptop
- Collection boxes
- Ensure all participants sign in and receive the correct meal ticket
- Receive donations and payments; make change as needed
- Introduce new participants to the program
- Assist with cleaning and busing tables at the end of shift, if needed
Qualifications
- Communicate courteously and effectively with participants, volunteers, and staff
- Maintain a responsible, caring, and professional demeanor
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Fluency in another language (preferred, not required)
- Cash handling experience (preferred, not required)
- Age 18 years or older
- Training provided
Dress Code
- Wear comfortable, clean clothing
Shift Commitment
- Commit to one shift per week for a minimum of 3 months
- Weekday shifts: 10:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
- Confirm available days with the Volunteer Coordinator
Additional Requirements
- Complete required paperwork
- Attend at least two quarterly in-service trainings annually (30 minutes each), covering topics such as:
- Customer service
- Foodborne illnesses
- Proper handwashing
- Abide by:
- City of Irvine Patron’s Code of Conduct
- Senior Services Code of Conduct
