Role Description:
The Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding Coordinator is responsible for supporting FYAR’s volunteer recruitment and onboarding process. The volunteer conducts interviews with prospective volunteers to assess their skills, experience, interests, and suitability for available roles. They also provide selected volunteers with a clear explanation of their assigned role, responsibilities, expectations, team structure, and onboarding procedures to ensure they understand how to successfully contribute to FYAR.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with prospective volunteers.
- Assess candidates based on their skills, experience, availability, and interests.
- Explain volunteer roles, responsibilities, expectations, and team protocols.
- Answer questions and provide guidance to newly selected volunteers.
- Ensure volunteers understand who they report to and how their team operates.
- Coordinate with Project Managers regarding volunteer placement and onboarding.
- Maintain professional and organized recruitment and onboarding records.

- Organized and detail-oriented – able to manage interviews, follow-ups, and onboarding information effectively.
- Professional and reliable – follows through on assigned tasks and maintains confidentiality.
- Good listener – able to understand candidates’ skills, interests, and expectations.
- Confident and engaging – comfortable explaining roles and answering questions.
- Team-oriented – works effectively with Project Managers and other FYAR teams.
- Adaptable – able to work with volunteers from different backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Mission-driven – genuinely interested in supporting youth and contributing to FYAR’s mission.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in recruitment, interviewing, HR, or volunteer coordination.
- Experience with onboarding or orientation programs.
- Knowledge of nonprofit or youth-serving organizations.
- Experience using Monday.com, Google Workspace, Slack, or other collaboration tools.
- Basic knowledge of candidate screening and selection processes.
- Experience conducting virtual interviews through Zoom, Google Meet, or similar platforms.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and recommendations on candidates.
