    Description

Volunteer with Helene Disaster Recovery — Housing Assistance Corporation

    About the opportunity

Housing Assistance Corporation is seeking local volunteers to support our ongoing Hurricane Helene disaster recovery efforts in Henderson County. We're at a critical point in our rebuild work, and volunteer labor is essential to keeping projects moving for the families we serve.

Our work takes us directly into the homes of neighbors who lost so much in the storm, helping them get back to a safe, stable place to live. It's hands-on, physically active work, and a meaningful way to give back to your own community.

    What you'll do

Volunteer tasks vary by project and may include installing flooring, demolishing and rebuilding damaged egresses, installing siding, painting, and other home rebuild work. No prior construction experience is required -- training is provided on-site -- but volunteers should be comfortable with active, physical work.

    What we provide

All tools, materials, and personal protective equipment are supplied. Volunteers should bring their own water and snacks or lunch.

    Good to know

All volunteers must sign a liability waiver prior to starting work (available in advance or on-site the morning of). We generally work in groups of 5–6, as job sites are often small, though larger groups can sometimes be accommodated across multiple sites.

    How to get involved

Interested individuals or groups can reach out to Stacey Driscoll, Disaster Recovery Program Coordinator, at stacey@housing-assistance.com to learn more and find a project and date that work for you!
