Dallas Pets Alive! is a highly respected animal rescue organization and provides the perfect place to utilize your skills to grow personally and professionally. Our mission is to promote and provide the resources, education, and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals in North Texas - and volunteers make our mission a reality.

As a Medical Needs Coordinator, you will support foster parents by reviewing vet records after appointments, updating medical information and clearances in ShelterLuv, and following up with fosters to ensure pets stay on track with their care.
Team: Medical
Reports to: Assistant Medical Director(s), Medical Director, Assistant VP of Animal Operations, VP of Animal Operations and the Executive Director.
Works with: DPA staff, Medical Leadership team, other volunteers, and foster parents
Location: Remote/Virtual - Virtual from anywhere, understanding we are in the CST time zone.
Time Commitment: Up to 5-10 hours per week
Compensation: This is a Volunteer Position with no monetary compensation. After one year of service we issue a professional letter of recommendation from our Director of Volunteer Management and Human Resources, as well as a LinkedIn recommendation(s) as applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Review vet records after appointments and update medical notes and clearances in ShelterLuv
- Track upcoming and overdue medical needs (vaccines, rechecks, surgeries, etc.)
- Communicate next steps and reminders to foster parents to keep pets on track with care
- Ensure vet appointments are scheduled in a timely manner to support medical clearance
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across ShelterLuv, Google Suite, and Trello
- Provide proactive updates to relevant teams and escalate concerns to team leads when needed
Qualifications/Skills:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Previous veterinary experience is not needed, just a willingness to learn
- Google Suite experience helpful
- Access to a laptop/desktop computer is required
- Attention to detail
- Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare
