    Description

    VETERAN TO VETERAN

Homeland Hospice is privileged to serve military veterans and is associated with the "We Honor Veterans Program." To support our veterans, Homeland understands that we must understand the unique physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual end-of-life challenges that many veterans face. We must understand how to specifically address those challenges to provide quality care and our Veteran volunteers play a key role in Homeland Hospice being able to do that.

Homeland Hospice offers several opportunities for veterans to serve fellow veterans:

    VETERAN COMPANIONSHIP:

Veteran volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with veteran patients and their families. Through this companion relationship, patients and volunteers tend to share in the camaraderie of the military experience.

    VETERAN APPRECIATION:

Homeland Hospice staff also like to show their respect to, and share their thanks with, patient veterans through pinning ceremonies. Veteran volunteers are welcomed and encouraged to be part of these ceremonies as we publicly acknowledge the military service and sacrifices made by the veteran and their family.

    VETERAN VIGIL SUPPORT:

Come alongside a veteran who is actively dying. Volunteers may be by the bedside of a person who would otherwise die alone, or they may be present with family member who simply need a break or another person to talk to.

Please contact us if you feel you would like to serve our patient veterans. Volunteers can select where they are comfortable serving: near your home/work, patients in their own homes, and patients in facilities.

Thank you for your service and for the freedom and protection that you have provided to us!

    • The Homeland Hospice office is located in Harrisburg, but serves 14 counties in South Central PA, including - Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Northumberland, Perry, Schuylkill, York. We can "match" you with a veteran in your home or work community.
