VITAS (r) Healthcare, a pioneer and leader in the hospice movement since 1978, is the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care.
We are looking for Veterans who would be willing to meet monthly with our terminally ill veteran patients to engage in socialization, conversation, and some good food. These meetings would take place in nursing homes and assisted living facilities and are held on various days and times.
Our VITAS Veteran Volunteers are trained to meet the specific needs of terminally ill veterans living in their own homes, nursing homes, assisted living communities and veterans’ medical centers.
Volunteer orientation teaches the skills required to be a hospice volunteer. VITAS Veteran Volunteers are further trained to meet specific end-of-life needs of veterans to improve their quality of life. Orientation and training to be a VITAS Veteran Volunteer is free.
