    Description

    Overview

    Tree Farm Steward Volunteers work to reduce fire hazards by clearing overgrowth in the HOP Campus tree farm. With limited access to heavy equipment, volunteers play a vital role in manually removing dead trees, thistles, and stumps in overgrown areas.

    Responsibilities

    • Clear dead trees, stumps, and thick undergrowth
    • Remove invasive weeds and thistles
    • Reduce fire hazards by thinning overgrown vegetation

    Qualifications

    • Physical stamina and comfort with outdoor work
    • Familiarity with hand tools or light equipment preferred
    • Commitment to working safely in wooded environments

    Impact

    This work directly reduces fire risks, preserves healthy trees, and maintains safe space for campus use.
