    Description

Do you enjoy learning, sharing stories, and connecting with others? The Matthews Heritage Museum invites you to join our team of dedicated docents! As a docent, you’ll help bring Matthews’ history to life by welcoming visitors and guiding tours through our exhibits.

    Why volunteer as a docent?

    • Discover fascinating stories about our town’s past.
    • Share your love of history with children, families, and community groups.
    • Meet a welcoming group of fellow volunteers who share your interests.
    • Enjoy the satisfaction of inspiring curiosity and preserving local heritage.

    What’s involved?

Docents commit to just one 3-hour shift per month:

    • Morning: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
    • Afternoon: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

The Museum is open Thursday through Saturday, and volunteers are needed during those times. Occasionally, you may also lead tours for school groups, scouts, or senior organizations.

No experience? No problem! We offer training for all new docents, plus ongoing sessions to keep you up to date on new exhibits and research.
