    Description

Identity & Access Management (IAM) Specialist – Volunteer Role

Identity & Access Management (IAM) Specialist

    The Donovan’s Venom

Remote | Technology – Information Security | Volunteer

We’re Building — And Access Must Be Controlled

    The Donovan’s Venom is scaling.

    As we grow, systems expand.

And with that — access becomes risk.

We are seeking an Identity & Access Management (IAM) Specialist to ensure the right people have the right access — at the right time.

    Nothing more. Nothing less.

Because in this role, access is security.

    The Role

The IAM Specialist is responsible for managing identities, controlling access, and protecting systems across the organization.

You will serve as a key control point between people and systems — ensuring access is granted, monitored, and removed with precision.

    What You’ll Own

    Identity & Access Control

      • Manage user identities across systems and platforms
      • Provision, update, and deprovision access
      • Maintain accurate user records and directories

    Role-Based Access (RBAC)

      • Design and manage role-based access models
      • Ensure access aligns with role, department, and responsibility
      • Enforce least-privilege principles

    Onboarding & Offboarding Security

      • Grant access during onboarding
      • Remove access immediately during offboarding
      • Prevent lingering or unauthorized access

    Authentication & Security Controls

      • Support and manage authentication systems (MFA, SSO)
      • Ensure strong access security practices
      • Monitor for anomalies and suspicious activity

    Access Reviews & Audits

      • Conduct regular access reviews
      • Identify and remove excessive permissions
      • Support compliance and audit readiness

    Privileged Access Management

      • Monitor and control elevated access
      • Ensure admin-level permissions are justified and tracked
      • Reduce risk across sensitive systems

    Security Monitoring & Incident Support

      • Detect abnormal access behavior
      • Support investigations of access-related incidents
      • Partner with cybersecurity teams

    Policy Enforcement & Process Improvement

      • Enforce access policies across the organization
      • Maintain documentation and procedures
      • Identify opportunities to improve and automate processes

    Who This Is For

This role is for someone who:

      • Understands that access = risk
      • Thinks in systems, controls, and security layers
      • Pays attention to detail — because small mistakes matter
      • Is proactive, not reactive
      • Takes ownership of protecting systems

    Qualifications

    Required

      • 2–4 years in IAM, IT, system administration, or cybersecurity
      • Strong understanding of:
      • Access control models (RBAC)
      • Authentication methods
      • Identity management systems

    Preferred

      • Experience with IAM tools or platforms
      • Google Workspace administration experience
      • Security certifications (e.g., Security+)
      • Experience in remote environments

    Commitment

      • 8–12 hours per week
      • Flexible schedule
      • Fully remote

    What You’ll Gain

      • Hands-on experience in identity security and access control
      • Exposure to real-world security operations
      • Opportunity to build and improve IAM systems
      • Impact in a growing, mission-driven organization
