    About Us

TORT Co. is a mission-driven nonprofit focused on building innovative mental wellness experiences, including interactive games and digital tools designed to support emotional growth and resilience. As we expand our digital ecosystem, we are committed to building privacy-first systems that protect and respect our users.

    Role Overview

We are seeking a Privacy Program Associate (Volunteer) to support the development and implementation of TORT Co.’s privacy and governance framework. This role reports directly to leadership and is ideal for someone early in their GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) or privacy career who wants hands-on experience building a privacy program from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful nonprofit while gaining real-world experience in privacy governance, compliance operations, and ethical data practices.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in drafting and maintaining privacy policies, procedures, and internal documentation
    • Conduct regulatory and compliance research (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, emerging privacy frameworks)
    • Support vendor risk tracking and third-party data assessments
    • Document privacy-related incidents and assist in response tracking
    • Contribute to program reporting, dashboards, and governance artifacts
    • Help organize and structure privacy workflows and records

    What We’re Looking For

    • Early-career professional, student, or career-switcher interested in privacy, GRC, or data governance
    • Basic understanding of privacy concepts (or strong willingness to learn)
    • Strong research, writing, and organizational skills
    • Detail-oriented with an interest in ethical technology and user protection
    • Ability to work independently in a remote, mission-driven environment

    What You’ll Gain

    • Hands-on experience building a real privacy program within a growing nonprofit
    • Direct mentorship and exposure to leadership decision-making
    • Portfolio-worthy work (policies, frameworks, reporting artifacts)
    • Experience applicable to roles in privacy, cybersecurity, compliance, and AI governance
    • Opportunity to contribute to meaningful mental wellness initiatives

    Important Note (Volunteer Role)

This is a volunteer, unpaid position intended for individuals seeking experience, skill development, or mission-driven involvement. While this role does not offer financial compensation, it provides valuable hands-on exposure and the opportunity to shape privacy practices within an emerging organization.
