Description
Purpose: To sort inbound mail and deliver to patients as well as departments through out the hospital.
Position Description:
Separate patient mail from hospital mail.
Hospital mail is separated into designated mail slots when applicable.
All patient mail is alphabetized by placing in the lettered pigeon hole file.
Alphabetize all mail for each letter of the alphabet and band together each patient's mail.
Mail should be ready for delivery by 11 a.m. Look up room number for each patient from computer print-out and number each bundle of a patient's mail. All divisions are delivered with the exception of the ICU and CCU units. Mail to the Psychiatric and Pediatric Division is dropped off at the nurses' station in those divisions.
Sort mail by floor number, then by section of hospital (Main or Memorial or building a) then numerically by room number.
When delivering mail, knock softly and say, "Mail," before you enter if door is closed. Extend the same courtesy you would like to receive--and S-M-I-L-E!!!
