    Bereavement Mailing Volunteer

    About Amedisys Hospice

Amedisys Hospice provides compassionate, patient‑centered care for individuals and families facing life‑limiting illnesses. Our bereavement program offers ongoing support to loved ones after the loss of a patient, ensuring no one has to navigate grief alone. Volunteers play an essential role in helping us stay connected with families throughout their bereavement journey.

    Position Overview

We are seeking a caring and reliable Bereavement Mailing Volunteer to assist our team with preparing and sending monthly bereavement mailings to families who have lost a loved one under our care. This role supports one of the most meaningful aspects of hospice: continued emotional support long after services end.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is organized, detail‑oriented, and looking for a quiet, independent volunteer role that truly makes a difference.

    Responsibilities

    • Assemble and prepare bereavement letters, cards, and resource packets.
    • Fold, label, and sort materials for mailing.
    • Assist with maintaining mailing lists and organizing materials as needed.
    • Work alongside the Bereavement Coordinator to ensure timely distribution each month.
    • Maintain confidentiality and follow all HIPAA guidelines.

    Qualifications

    • Compassionate, dependable, and comfortable supporting families experiencing grief.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently in a calm office environment.
    • Willingness to complete hospice volunteer onboarding, including background check and required training.
    • Must be at least 18 years old.

    Time Commitment

    • Approximately 2–4 hours once per month
    • Schedule is flexible and can be arranged during normal weekday office hours.

    Why Volunteer With Us?

    • Make a meaningful impact by supporting families during a vulnerable time.
    • Join a supportive and welcoming hospice team.
    • Gain experience in healthcare, bereavement support, and administrative coordination.
    • Give back in a role that fits easily into nearly any schedule.
