    Overview

About Mentor A Promise: Mentor A Promise is a New York City–based nonprofit serving children

and youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, social-emotional

support, academic enrichment, and community partnership. MAP believes that every child is a

Promise—full of potential, dignity, and possibility—and works to create consistent, empowering

spaces where students can grow, be seen, and build lasting skills.

    Organization: Mentor A Promise (MAP)

Location: Remote with potential NYC-based collaboration

    Type: Volunteer

Role Overview: The Research Coordinator will manage the day-to-day research activities

needed to complete MAP’s deliverable outcome plan. This role will organize the literature review,

support survey development, coordinate research meetings, maintain documentation, and help

compile findings into clear and useful summaries. The Research Coordinator will help ensure

that the research process is structured, timely, ethical, and centered on the lived realities of

students and families experiencing housing instability.

Key Responsibilities: Coordinate research tasks and deadlines; organize academic articles,

official reports, and policy documents; assist with survey design and implementation; prepare

    meeting notes and progress updates; maintain project files; support stakeholder mapping;

compile preliminary findings; and work closely with the Project Director and other team members

to prepare the final research report.

Qualifications: Strong writing, research, organization, and communication skills; experience or

education in social work, education, public policy, sociology, psychology, nonprofit management,

or a related field; ability to synthesize information clearly; interest in youth development, housing

    instability, and educational equity.

What You’ll Gain: Hands-on experience coordinating nonprofit research, developing

evidence-based recommendations, and contributing to a mission-driven project that supports

students and families across New York City.
