University Avenue Elementary

University Avenue Elementary is looking for a few volunteers beginning in September.

Baggie Books Program

• Volunteers assist students weekly with checking in and out books from our Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade take home classroom libraries.
• Volunteers come once a week on the same day. You can choose which day you sign up for.
• It starts at 9:15. At the beginning of the year volunteers are done by 10:30 but the goal is to be done by 10:00.
• Interested but not sure if it's for you? Come and try it for a day. This program begins later in September.

Workroom Volunteers

• Volunteers are needed Tuesday and Thursday mornings to work with other volunteers on projects for students and staff.
• Most volunteers start at 9:30 and stay anywhere from 1-3 hours. It's your choice how long you stay.
• Most of the work is cutting projects, but it also includes, sorting, stapling, copying, gluing, organizing, diecutting, etc.
• Volunteers can sign up for once a week, bi-weekly or once a month.
• If you would like to come in one day just to see what it is like let me know.
• Volunteers can begin as early as August 26th.

Kindergarten Skillbuilders

• We are looking for volunteers interested in working one-on-one with Kindergarten students to provide practice in basic literacy and math.
• It takes place from 9:20 - 10:00, once a week. You choose which day of the week you would like to come.
• Online training is required.
• If you complete the training and decide it is not for you, there is no commitment to continue.
• This begins in October.

Staff return to the office on August 20th and will contact interested volunteers within that week.
