    Description

Race Day Volunteer — Palisades Half Marathon & 6K Trail Run

    About the opportunity

The Palisades Half Marathon and 6K Trail Run are back for 2026! Both races take place on Sunday, September 27, starting and finishing at Fort Lee Historic Park. The newly updated, USATF-certified Half Marathon course covers 13.1 paved miles with stunning views and over 1,430 feet of elevation gain along the Palisades ridge, while the new 6K Trail Run descends to the Shore Trail along the Hudson River and climbs through tunnels and rugged crags before connecting to the Long Path.

All proceeds from the race benefit the Palisades Parks Conservancy and the network of 29 state parks and historic sites we serve, from the GW Bridge to the Catskill Mountains. None of it happens without volunteers — we're looking for people who want to spend a morning outdoors, be part of a great community event, and directly support the parks you love.

    What you'll do

Volunteers are the backbone of race day. Depending on where you're placed, you might help with runner check-in and bib pickup, staff a water station along the course, cheer on and direct runners at a course marshal point, or help with race-day logistics like parking, bag check, or the finish line. No experience is necessary — just enthusiasm and reliability.

    Commitment

A single race-day shift on Sunday, September 27. Specific shift times will be confirmed closer to the event based on your assigned role, and most shifts fall within the morning hours.

    What you'll get

An awesome volunteer t-shirt featuring race art designed by local artist Kaitlin Brito, a behind-the-scenes look at how a race comes together, and the satisfaction of helping fund conservation work across 29 state parks and historic sites. It's also a great way to be part of the local running and outdoors community.
