Translate scripts and help create videos in Burmese that cover important topics from school to housing, financial literacy, and more!These videos have been requested by refugee and immigrant parents who are unable to attend a traditional English Language class. Training is provided.
Program Overview:
Catholic Charities Refugee Integration Services works with refugee communities and other partners to design programs that leverage community assets to facilitate the integration of refugees and immigrants into communities across southeastern Wisconsin.

- Volunteer Role DescriptionParental Educational Video Translator (Dari):
You will translate English scripts provided by Catholic Charities on Google Slides (7 or fewer slides) into culturally and linguistically appropriate voice-over videos (3-7 minutes long) on important topics such as education, housing, financial literacy, and more.
Traits and Tasks:
- Must be currently living in the United States
- At least 18 years old to volunteer
- Comfortable translating English and communicating in one of Catholic Charities’ needed languages: Rohingya, Burmese, Dari, Pashto, Hakha Chin, Karen, or Ukrainian
- Have a computer that can record audio and access Catholic Charities shared Google Drive
What We Provide You:
- 30-minute information session to learn more about the role and program
- 1:1 virtual training session with our Community Educator before you get started
- Pre-made simple scripts to translate
- Shared Google Drive resources
The Commitment:
- Minimum of 2-8 hours per month to create 1-3 videos
- Virtual opportunity - occurs any time of the day or week at home
- 6-month minimum commitment
Your Impact:
- Catholic Charities’ YouTube channel currently has 23.7k subscribers, 1.2k videos, and over 1.2 million views from all around the world!
- In 2024, 110 volunteers spent 5,685 hours connecting with 211 refugees and immigrants, impacting 959 family members.
- Since 2019, 145 refugees have become U.S. citizens!
- Video by video, you can empower refugee and immigrant parents to advocate for themselves and their families as they integrate into American society
