If you and your pet have a soothing presence and a heart for service, this role offers a meaningful way to brighten someone’s day when it matters most.
What You’ll Do
As a Pet Therapy Volunteer, you and your therapy animal will:
- Visit hospice patients in homes or care facilities
- Offer calm, comforting companionship and emotional support
- Create moments of joy, relaxation, and connection for patients and families
- Work alongside hospice staff to ensure safe, respectful visits
- Follow all hospice, safety, and infection-control guidelines
Who We’re Looking For
- Certified therapy animals and handlers (or those willing to become certified)
- Calm, well-trained pets who enjoy gentle interaction
- Compassionate, dependable volunteers with strong communication skills
- Ability to respect patient boundaries, cultural differences, and confidentiality
- A shared commitment to dignity and comfort at end of life
