    Florida Youth At Risk is a youth-focused organization dedicated to empowering young people through programs in leadership and community development. We use storytelling and digital platforms to inspire change, amplify impact, and elevate the voices of young people.

    Role Summary

    We're looking for a creative, organized volunteer to write and help produce FYAR's monthly newsletter — sharing program updates, youth spotlights, upcoming events, and calls to action with our community of supporters, donors, and partners.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Draft FYAR's monthly newsletter, including program updates, youth spotlights, upcoming events, and calls to action
    • Collaborate with the Blogger/content team to repurpose existing blog content into newsletter format where relevant
    • Follow FYAR's editorial voice and brand guidelines for consistency across channels
    • Coordinate with program staff to gather timely updates and stories ahead of each send
    • Proofread and edit content for clarity, tone, and accuracy before distribution

    What We're Looking For

    Required

    • Strong written communication skills with excellent grammar and editing abilities
    • Experience with newsletter, email, or content writing (professional or personal)
    • Genuine passion for youth development and nonprofit work
    • Comfortable working to a monthly deadline

    Preferred

    • Familiarity with email/newsletter platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
    • Previous experience writing for nonprofits or mission-driven organizations
    • Background in communications, journalism, or marketing

    Role Details

    • This is a volunteer/internship position (unpaid)
    • 3-month minimum commitment
    • 3–5 hours per month
    • Remote — work from anywhere
    • Training provided
