    Practice will be held Tuesday & Thursday at 6:15pm-7:15pm at Magnuson Park. Track meets will be held on Saturdays at West Seattle Stadium first track meet will be April 18th.

    Description

    Track Coaches Needed: Magnuson, Ravenna-Eckstein, and Lake City Community Centers

    Coaches are needed year round for a variety of sports in Seattle Parks and Recreation. Volunteers play vital roles in the implementation of sports programming in Seattle's Community Centers.

    Primary responsibility and task include:

    • Plan/Coordinate practice schedule
    • Facilitate team practices 1 or 2 times per week
    • Manage team roster and meet submission deadlines
    • Maintain positive relationships w/ parents, players and staff

    Track and Field Coaches are needed at Community Centers throughout the City. This posting is for a shared coach for the Lake City, Ravenna-Eckstein, and Magnuson Community Centers, but if you would like to volunteer to coach at your local Community Center, please reach out to the Center Coordinator at that location for details about their needs.

    Track and Field Season (Girls and Boys) - March through May

    Start date: 3/30/26

    Last Meet: 5/23/26

    Practices are scheduled for: Tues/Thurs 6:15pm-7:15pm

    Meets: Begin Saturday, April 18; meets take place 9am-3pm at West Seattle Stadium

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of track and field, and running/fitness best practices
    • Ability to teach, motivate and work with youth in a positive atmosphere
    • Good communication and customer service skills
    • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
    • Encourage good sportsmanship and model that behavior
    • Must pass an annual criminal background check

    In this role you will:

    • Provide a fun atmosphere that is inclusive and positive
    • Become a mentor to the next generation
    • Be a part of instilling team building skills and a sense of community

    It takes 1-3 weeks for volunteer documentation to be processed through the Seattle Parks and Recreation volunteer unit. Once you have completed both forms, please let your staff contacts know so we can know to look for your volunteer status updates.
