The Salvation Army is looking for some volunteers who would be available during the year and are able to translate Spanish to English to assist with many of our programs.
Since we're always working with people in our community, there are certain times of year when it's very beneficial to have someone bilingual to assist. We want everyone who comes to us for help to be served.
During the year, our Red Shield program runs on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. Our clients come, and we have times when we need help gathering information so we can provide free groceries.
In the Christmas season, starting in October, we also have intake days where clients who need Christmas Toy assistance meet with our staff to gather all the information we need to help them have a great Christmas season for their families.
We also have Toy Distribution in December, and it's always helpful to have someone to translate there too. These are the same people who needed our help at intake in October.
I'm trying to build a group of volunteers who can speak Spanish, so we have a few I can ask when we have a need coming up that we'll anticipate an interpreter may be needed. Even if you come as an interpreter, you can also come to volunteer as part of our community outreach.
