Municipal Airspace Transparency Project (San Diego / El Cajon)
2301 Erie Street, San Diego, CA 92110
An independent public-interest transparency project is seeking volunteer field investigators, aviation spotters, photographers, journalists, and researchers to assist with documenting aircraft activity in connection with an ongoing review of municipal transparency and public-record compliance.
The project focuses on documenting low-altitude helicopter operations, publicly available flight-tracking data, and related public records to better understand patterns of aircraft activity and evaluate compliance with applicable transparency requirements.
Current Area of Interest
Location: Gillespie Field (KSEE) and surrounding areas
Aircraft of Interest: Robinson R44 helicopter N357JP (among other aircraft observed in the study area)
Study Area: Residential corridors within San Diego, including ZIP Code 92110
Volunteer Activities
Photograph and document aircraft tail numbers.
Record takeoff and landing times.
Observe flight paths from lawful public locations.
Compare observations with publicly available ADS-B and FAA information.
Maintain accurate written observation logs.
Assist with public-record and open-government research.
