    Description

Volunteer Drivers needed for Norfolk County RSVP Rides for Veterans - WEYMOUTH, QUINCY, BRAINTREE

Help Local Veterans Get to Vital Medical Appointments

Norfolk County RSVP is seeking dependable volunteers age 55 and older to drive local Veterans to and from medical appointments and essential trips. Many Veterans cannot drive or afford alternative transportation, and your support ensures they receive the care and services they need.

Volunteers use their own vehicle and receive supplemental liability insurance plus $0.40 per mile reimbursement, provided by RSVP.

    What You’ll Do

As a Veteran Medical Ride Volunteer Driver, you will:

    • Transport Veterans to medical appointments and essential errands
    • Provide safe, courteous, and respectful service
    • Choose which rides to accept based on your availability, location, and comfort
    • Support Veterans with transportation they rely on for their health and well‑being

    Ride Details

    • Minimum of two (2) rides per month
    • Volunteers self‑select ride requests — drive when and where you choose
    • Trips may be local or to VA facilities, including:
      • Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center
      • West Roxbury VA Medical Center
      • Brockton VA Medical Center

    Safety Protocols

To protect both drivers and riders, volunteers must:

    • Wear a mask
    • Use hand sanitizer before entering the vehicle
    • Follow all RSVP and public health safety procedures

    Requirements

    Volunteers must:

    • Be age 55+ (RSVP requirement)
    • Hold a valid Massachusetts driver’s license
    • Have a reliable personal vehicle
    • Pass a background check
    • Be comfortable driving throughout Norfolk County
