The Food Bank Volunteer helps support food distribution operations by assisting with the collection, organization, packing, and distribution of food items. Volunteers play a vital role in ensuring that individuals and families in need have consistent access to nutritious food.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and inspect donated food for quality
- Pack food boxes and bags according to distribution guidelines
- Assist with loading/unloading food deliveries
- Stock shelves and organize storage areas
- Help with distribution during food bank hours
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Provide friendly and respectful service to clients, staff, and fellow volunteers
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to lift 25-30 pounds and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a warehouse or pantry setting
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
- Friendly and respectful communication skills
Requirements:
- Completion of all onboarding paperwork and training
- Background check required
- Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older
- Commitment to volunteering once a week for 4 hours for 6 months
- Record hours volunteered and submit to LCSNW staff at the end of each month
- Disclosure of any dual relationships. Volunteer interacts with clients outside of LCSNW setting
