Retired, Semi-Retired or Planning Retirement? Put Your Experience to Work for Good — Become a GSL Skills Volunteer

    Description

You may have spent 20, 30 or 40 years building skills and experience. Retirement doesn't mean those skills have stopped being valuable.

Global Support Link (GSL) works alongside small, locally led organisations and communities, particularly in lower-income countries. Our partners often have ambitious ideas and committed local people, but sometimes lack access to particular skills and experience.

We are building a network of experienced volunteers who would like to use what they know to make a practical difference.

The needs can be remarkably varied. We may be looking for someone with experience in water storage, medical education, renewable energy, project or business management — or finance, engineering, IT, marketing, HR, fundraising, education and many other fields.

This is not about travelling overseas to “do things for people”. We start by asking our partners what they need. We then look for someone with the appropriate experience to work alongside them, share knowledge and help build capability that remains after the assignment has finished.

Assignments might involve a few hours of remote advice, mentoring over several months, helping solve a particular organisational problem, or occasionally working alongside a partner in-country.

You might be fully retired, semi-retired, approaching retirement or simply at a stage in your career where you would like to contribute some of your experience.

We will respond to every enquiry immediately, learn more about the skills and experience you can offer, and discuss how you might become involved. If we don't have the right opportunity for you now, we'll keep in touch until an appropriate need arises.

There is no obligation to accept an assignment simply because you've joined our network.

    Our principle is simple:

The need comes first. Then we find the right person to help.
