    Volunteer Chief

Project 2029 is looking for a professional with experience in recruiting and retaining volunteers to serve as our Volunteer Chief. Donate your time and expertise to help our core group of volunteers create a more perfect union and a democracy that truly puts the people first.

(Yes, we’re looking for a volunteer to find more volunteers for us.)

    About the Role

As the Volunteer Chief, you will:

    • Serve as the Lead for the Volunteer Team
    • In coordination with Project 2029 leadership, develop and implement a recruitment strategy to attract diverse candidates, including experienced policy authors, media and social media experts, and legal and financial professionals
    • Advise Project 2029 Leadership on best practices regarding nonprofit volunteer recruitment, onboarding, coordination and tracking
    • Assist with drafting job descriptions for Project 2029’s volunteer positions
    • Research suitable recruitment tools including websites, partner groups, and recruitment platforms
    • Conduct initial interviews with prospective volunteers
    • Oversee the creation and maintenance of a volunteer database for logging and referring volunteers

    Who We Are

Project 2029 is a grassroots organization run entirely by volunteers like you. Our mission is to create a more perfect union, where Freedom, Opportunity, and Security are available to all, where all people are treated equally, where the three branches of government are co-equal, where corruption is exposed, and where laws are established for the good of everyone.

We are developing actionable policies to create a flourishing, transparent, and accountable government that works for all people. We are identifying and empowering new state and federal leaders to step into public service roles with the integrity and vision to implement fair and effective policies. We are rewriting the rules of governance to ignite a movement for democracy anchored in justice and committed to future generations.

    Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for candidates who are excited about progressive politics and are dedicated to the idea that we can change what is happening in our country.

Ideal candidates will be committed to volunteerism and have excellent communication skills as well as the ability to recognize the best use of volunteer staff’s talents.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree ideal, especially in public administration, marketing, or human resources
    • Minimum of two years’ experience in recruiting, marketing, or talent acquisition
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Knowledge of best practices in volunteer management and recruitment
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple volunteer onboarding processes simultaneously
    • Ability to work remotely and engage with colleagues online

We value volunteers who bring diverse perspectives and experiences to our work, and we particularly encourage applications from individuals who represent communities that are often underrepresented in advocacy spaces.
