    Description

Compassionate Hospice Volunteer Needed in Parma Area

Continuum Care Hospice helps people by attending to the needs of both the patients and their family during a time of life limiting illness. Our volunteers choose their assignments and customize their volunteer experience. If you’re volunteering with direct patient contact, you can provide friendly visits for patients that are lonely and don’t have anyone to visit with them. You can also provide respite, so the caregiver can get a break. You may help patients find their own answers to important questions. Some of our volunteers play music or read to patients, play bingo, cards, checkers, or provide a listening ear and a caring heart. Some volunteers are simply there in a setting where they are just hand holding to provide companionship and comfort, so the patient knows they are not alone. No matter the role in which they serve, many of our volunteers tell us they feel they are on the receiving end by what they gain from the experience. We are so very grateful for our volunteers and the services they provide. As a Continuum Care Volunteer, you will be there when friends and family find it difficult to do so. Volunteers will be trained and educated to effectively work with people who are dying and their families or caregivers while maintaining healthy boundaries. You will create your own schedule and serve in a manner in which you feel comfortable and fulfilled. You will be thanked and appreciated for sharing your time and talents to provide emotional support and companionship to people at a time in their lives when compassion is needed the most.
