### Position Overview
The Public Relations & Communications Manager Volunteer will help strengthen Autism Today's public presence by supporting media relations, communications, and public outreach. This role is ideal for someone interested in public relations, communications, media engagement, and nonprofit advocacy while gaining hands-on experience working with a mission-driven organization.
The volunteer will work closely with leadership to help promote Autism Today's initiatives, programs, and CEO through strategic communications and media opportunities.
### Key Responsibilities
**Public Relations & Media Outreach**
- Assist in building relationships with journalists, media outlets, and strategic partners
- Research and identify media opportunities for Autism Today and its leadership
- Help secure speaking engagements, interviews, podcast appearances, and other publicity opportunities
- Support outreach to media contacts and community organizations
**Communications**
- Draft press releases, media pitches, and media kits
- Assist with preparing communication materials for campaigns and organizational announcements
- Help maintain consistent messaging across public communications
- Support promotional initiatives and awareness campaigns
**Team Collaboration**
- Work closely with the Marketing, Communications, and Leadership teams
- Assist with special events, campaigns, and public awareness initiatives
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to increase Autism Today's visibility and community engagement
### Qualifications
- Interest in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, or media
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and relationship-building abilities
- Comfortable conducting online research and outreach
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a volunteer team
- Passion for nonprofit, advocacy, or community-focused work
