Build a Focused Effort to Pressure NY State Officials to Defend Constitutional Democracy

We are organizing a small, fast-moving, short-term effort in New York as part of Democratism’s broader strategy to confront the authoritarian takeover through state and local action. This effort is focused on holding state officials accountable for acting, not just talking, about the threat to constitutional democracy.

We are building a focused team to test whether a disciplined, constituent-driven effort can expose the gap between rhetoric and action and force it to become a real issue.

The timeline is immediate, with the New York primary on June 23.

Participants in this effort will:

• Reach out directly to people they know and ask them to take action
• Contact an elected official’s office through calls, messages, and follow-up
• Help spread a clear, consistent message publicly
• Participate in a small, coordinated team with a shared strategy
• Help create a visible pattern of constituent pressure

This is a good fit if you:

• Are based in New York (NYC area especially useful, but not required)
• Are strongly motivated to help stop the authoritarian takeover and defend constitutional democracy
• Are willing to act quickly and consistently over the coming weeks
• Are comfortable reaching out to people directly, not just posting or observing
• Can follow through without needing constant direction

People with connections to particular districts or local political networks may be especially useful, but strong applicants from elsewhere in New York are welcome and may contribute to this effort or future efforts.

Time commitment

• A few hours per week, with the effort expected to run through June 23
• One short coordination meeting per week
