    Digital Literacy Workshop Support – Digital Literacy 100: Mobile Devices

    About the Opportunity

    The Washington West African Center (WAWAC), in partnership with All Day Software, is hosting Digital Literacy 100: Mobile Devices, a free community workshop designed to help participants build confidence using smartphones and tablets. This event supports individuals who may be new to technology or seeking to strengthen their digital skills for daily life, work readiness, and business tasks.

    We are seeking friendly, patient volunteers to help make this workshop a welcoming and empowering experience for all attendees.

    Volunteer Roles Available

    Tech Support Volunteer (In‑Person & Online)

    Help participants with hands‑on learning, including:

    • Navigating smartphone settings
    • Calling, texting, and video chat basics
    • Downloading and managing apps
    • Internet searches and online safety
    • Basic troubleshooting

    Hospitality & Registration Volunteer (In‑Person)

    Support the flow of the event by:

    • Greeting participants as they arrive
    • Assisting with sign‑in and distributing materials
    • Guiding attendees to seating and activity stations
    • Helping with refreshments and setup/cleanup

    Zoom Support Volunteer (Online)

    Assist the virtual portion of the workshop by:

    • Monitoring the chat for questions
    • Helping participants who need tech support
    • Managing breakout rooms (if used)
    • Ensuring smooth communication between online and in‑person groups

    Who We’re Looking For

    You’ll be a great fit if you are:

    • Patient, friendly, and comfortable working with beginners
    • Familiar with basic smartphone functions (iPhone or Android)
    • Able to communicate clearly and respectfully
    • Passionate about digital equity and community empowerment

    No teaching experience required — just a willingness to help.
