    Volunteer Individual Donor Retention Coordinator

    Organization: Carolina Boxer Rescue

    Location: Remote

Time Commitment: Approximately 3–5 hours per week

    Position Type: Volunteer

    About Carolina Boxer Rescue

Carolina Boxer Rescue (CBR) is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming boxers in need across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia. Our work depends on the generosity of people who believe every boxer deserves a chance at a better life.

    About the Opportunity

Do you enjoy building relationships, communicating with people, and helping others feel appreciated? Carolina Boxer Rescue is seeking a Volunteer Individual Donor Retention Coordinator to help strengthen relationships with our donors and build a sustainable donor stewardship program.

In this role, you'll help ensure donors feel valued throughout the year—not just when we're asking for donations. You'll coordinate personalized thank-you messages, donor follow-ups, appreciation communications, and outreach to previous supporters while helping maintain accurate records in Salesforce.

This is a meaningful opportunity to help CBR build lasting relationships with the people who make our rescue work possible.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate timely, personalized thank-you communications for first-time donors and other donors identified for individual recognition.
    • Help ensure donation acknowledgments and donor follow-ups are completed consistently.
    • Coordinate donor appreciation messages and impact updates.
    • Help recognize repeat donors and members of CBR's Nub Club monthly giving program.
    • Follow CBR's annual donor stewardship calendar and communication procedures.
    • Monitor first-time donor follow-ups and identify opportunities to strengthen donor relationships.
    • Help coordinate respectful outreach to previous donors who have not given recently.
    • Support recurring donor welcome and appreciation processes.
    • Review approved Salesforce reports to identify donors needing follow-up.
    • Record stewardship activities and maintain donor follow-up tasks in Salesforce.
    • Track program activity and prepare a brief monthly progress report.
    • Recommend practical improvements to donor stewardship processes.
    • Escalate donor concerns or unusual gift issues to the Director of Fundraising & Events.

    Qualifications

    • Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing recurring responsibilities independently.
    • Strong written communication skills and a thoughtful, professional approach.
    • Comfortable working with email, spreadsheets, and databases, or willing to learn.
    • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
    • Discreet and respectful when handling confidential donor information.
    • Passionate about animal welfare and CBR's mission.

Experience with nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, Salesforce, CRM systems, or email communications is helpful but not required. CBR will provide documented procedures, templates, and guidance.

    Time Commitment

Approximately 3–5 hours per week. The schedule is flexible, provided routine follow-ups and agreed deadlines are met.

    Support Provided

CBR will provide a donor retention handbook, stewardship calendar, approved communication templates, defined procedures, access to approved tools, and guidance from the Director of Fundraising & Events.

This role focuses on implementing established stewardship processes. The volunteer will not be responsible for independently managing fundraising strategy, changing financial records, or building complex Salesforce automation.

    What You'll Gain

    • Experience in donor relations and nonprofit fundraising.
    • An opportunity to build meaningful relationships with supporters.
    • Experience working with Salesforce and donor stewardship systems.
    • The satisfaction of helping sustain the rescue and care of boxers in need.
