    Description

Volunteer Greeter for the Campbell Historical Museum

Volunteer Opportunity: Become a Museum Greeter!

Help us keep history alive and thriving in the heart of downtown Campbell! The Campbell Historical Museum and Ainsley House are looking for passionate and friendly individuals to join our team as volunteer Greeters.

    What Do Greeters Do?

A Greeter is the first person representing the Museum with whom a visitor interacts.

    Ainsley House Greeter:

A Greeter at the Ainsley House will work inside the Carriage House.

During the shift, a Greeter will welcome visitors into the Carriage House. Engage them for any questions, interest in a tour, show them the Carriage House exhibit, and store merchandise.

The Greeter will process admission payments and track visitors for Museum data. They will also process any Museum store purchases and bag up the purchases for the customers. They will start the visitor orientation video about the Ainsley House and then alert the docent that there is a tour waiting.

    Historical Museum Greeter:

A Greeter at the Historical Museum will work inside the exhibit gallery at the Historical Museum. During the shift, Greeters will answer questions from the public, keep the Museum tidy, and ensure the visitor video is played.

What are the Shift Times for the Greeters?

The Greeter shift at both locations is 10:50am-3pm.

Both Museums are open from 11am-3pm.

We ask that the Greeters arrive 10 minutes early to be able to open their sites at 11am.

What is the time commitment for volunteering at the Campbell Museums?

The time commitment depends on the time of year and availability of Greeters.

    Ainsley House:

    • 4 to 8 hours per month, which is about 2 shifts per month.
    • More shifts might be expected during the busy Holiday Season

    Campbell Historical Museum:

    • 4 to 8 hours per month or more if possible!

    What training is provided?

Training is provided for all volunteer positions.

Greeters are provided with training with museum staff on how to open each site, how to run the payment systems, and will shadow other greeters until they feel comfortable being on their own.

What is the dress code for volunteers?

The dress code may vary depending on the volunteer duty and shift.

Greeter Volunteers are encouraged to dress in nice clothes, which means a top without any graphics and pants or skirt, or a dress. Dressy jeans are ok, but please no holes and rips.

We do want you to look nice and feel comfortable.

How many volunteers do you have?

The Campbell Museums usually have about 50 active volunteers. Our volunteers allow the Campbell Museums to remain open to the public as well as to offer quality programs and events.

What are the benefits of Volunteering?

Volunteering has tremendous benefits that can be personal for everyone. Being a part of the community, meeting new people, learning new skills, and helping preserve history are some of the reasons our volunteers have enjoyed being a part of the Campbell Museums.

    Other benefits for volunteers:

    • 10% discount in Museum store
    • Free or discounted admission to Museum events
    • Volunteer potlucks throughout the year
    • Volunteer field trips throughout the year.
    • Opportunities to meet new people, give back to the community, and help make history happen!

    What Days can I volunteer?

Docents and Greeters are needed during the Historical Museum and the Ainsley House’s public hours. Those days and times are: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays11am-3pm.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to have you on board! Help us keep history open and active for our community.
