Eligibility Support Volunteer

Help Patients Take the Next Step Toward Care

Location: Hackensack or Garfield

Commitment: One shift per week, approximately 4 hours

Bilingual? Even better!

Help BVMI patients move through the eligibility process by keeping documents organized and following up when something is needed. You’ll scan and upload patient documents, make friendly follow-up calls (as appropriate), and help ensure patients have what they need to access care.

You’ll:

• Scan and upload eligibility documents into our electronic healthcare charts
• Follow up with patients about signatures or documents (as appropriate)
• Keep records and tracking information organized
• Work closely with the Eligibility Team
• Protect patient privacy and confidentiality

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is:

• Organized and detail-oriented
• Reliable and comfortable using a computer, google sheets
• Friendly and professional with patients
• Comfortable following procedures and asking questions when needed
• Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Korean is a plus

Before beginning the role, the volunteer will receive training on:

• BVMI eligibility procedures.
• Athena document scanning and uploading.
• Patient confidentiality and HIPAA.
• BVMI telephone procedures.
• Eligibility tracking sheets.
