    Volunteer Therapist (Global Virtual)

    Women of Color On The Move (WOCOTM) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women, children, and families through advocacy, education, and mental wellness initiatives. Our mission is to create spaces where women of color can heal, lead, and thrive—locally and globally. We work to eliminate barriers to mental health care and promote emotional well-being within underserved and marginalized communities.

    Position Overview:

    The Volunteer Therapist (Global Virtual) will provide culturally competent, trauma-informed, and confidential mental health support to women and families across the world. This role involves offering individual or group counseling sessions, developing virtual wellness workshops, and supporting WOCOTM’s global mental health initiatives. The volunteer will work remotely with clients and community partners to promote emotional healing and empowerment.

    Key Responsibilities:

      • Provide virtual counseling sessions to individuals, families, or groups within WOCOTM’s global programs.
      • Deliver trauma-informed and culturally sensitive therapy tailored to women and families from diverse backgrounds.
      • Facilitate support groups and wellness workshops on topics such as stress management, emotional resilience, and self-care.
      • Maintain accurate, confidential case notes and reports in accordance with ethical standards.
      • Collaborate with other social workers, advocates, and program directors to create integrated care plans.
      • Contribute to the development of mental health awareness campaigns and global wellness initiatives.
      • Attend monthly team meetings, training sessions, and supervision check-ins with the WOCOTM Mental Health & Wellness team.
      • Provide crisis intervention and referral support, when necessary, within appropriate professional boundaries.

    Qualifications:

      • Master’s degree (or higher) in Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, or a related mental health field.
      • Licensed or license-eligible therapist, counselor, or social worker (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC, etc.), or equivalent international credential.
      • Experience providing virtual therapy or telehealth services.
      • Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility, social justice, and women’s empowerment.
      • Strong communication, empathy, and confidentiality skills.
      • Comfortable using virtual platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, or HIPAA-compliant tools.
      • Preferred Multilingual abilities are highly valued (e.g., French, Spanish, Swahili, Arabic, Portuguese).
      • Able to use Microsoft 365
      • Must have a computer

    Time Commitment:

      • Minimum 4-5 hours per week, flexible scheduling depending on availability and program needs.
