    Volunteer Responsibilities

    Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum Bicentennial Celebration

    Become a volunteer for history! The Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum is in need of volunteers for the Bicentennial Celebration! The event is in celebration of the adobe’s 200th birthday on September 19th and early California history. Gain volunteer experience by facilitating an activity with us! Volunteers play an important role in creating a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable experience for all guests.

    Children's Activities Volunteers

    Responsibilities:

    • Welcome families and encourage participation in activities.
    • Assist children with hands-on crafts, games, and educational activities.
    • Explain activity instructions clearly and answer questions.
    • Monitor activity stations to ensure supplies remain organized and stocked.
    • Help maintain a safe and orderly environment.
    • Notify event staff of any accidents, concerns, or supply needs.
    • Assist with opening and closing activity stations.

    Ideal For:

    • Volunteers who enjoy working with children and families.
    • Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic individuals.

    Event Set-Up Volunteers

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist with setting up tables, chairs, tents, and event equipment.
    • Arrange activity stations and informational exhibition displays.
    • Place signage and directional markers throughout the event grounds.
    • Help unload and transport supplies as needed.
    • Ensure event spaces are clean, organized, and ready before guests arrive.
    • Follow directions from museum staff regarding event layout and logistics.

    Requirements:

    • Ability to lift and carry moderate-weight items (approximately 25–40 lbs.).
    • Comfortable working outdoors.
    • Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic individuals.

    Guest Ushers

    Responsibilities:

    • Greet guests with a warm and welcoming attitude.
    • Provide directions to activities, performances, restrooms, and parking.
    • Distribute event programs or maps.
    • Answer general questions about the event and museum.
    • Assist with managing pedestrian traffic and crowd flow.
    • Help maintain clear walkways and entrances.
    • Notify museum staff of any guest concerns or emergencies.

    Ideal For:

    • Friendly individuals with strong communication skills.
    • Volunteers who enjoy interacting with the public.

    General Volunteer Expectations

    All volunteers are expected to:

    • Arrive on time for their scheduled shift.
    • Check in with museum staff upon arrival.
    • Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.
    • Remain courteous, professional, and respectful to all guests.
    • Stay at assigned stations unless directed otherwise.
    • Report safety concerns or emergencies immediately to museum staff.
    • Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors.
    • Represent the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum with enthusiasm and professionalism.

    From the 405 Freeway

    • Take the Alameda Street exit.
    • Head north on Alameda Street.
    • Continue approximately 1 mile.
    • The museum entrance will be on the right.

    From the 710 Freeway

    • Exit at Del Amo Boulevard.
    • Head west on Del Amo Boulevard.
    • Turn right (north) onto Alameda Street.
    • Continue approximately ½ mile.
    • The museum entrance will be on the right.

    From the 110 Freeway

    • Take the Del Amo Boulevard exit.
    • Head east on Del Amo Boulevard.
    • Turn left (north) onto Alameda Street.
    • Continue approximately ½ mile.
    • The museum entrance will be on the right.

    Parking

    Free parking is available around the museum's historic rose garden. Please park head-first in the marked spaces. During special events, additional parking may be available on the lower grounds, while upper parking is typically reserved for accessible parking.
